How to prepare for your first akashic records reading
The questions to bring, what to expect emotionally, and how to set up the space for a meaningful first reading — written for clients in Connecticut and beyond.
A first akashic records reading is unlike most things you will book. There is no quiz to prepare, no homework to submit — but a small amount of intention beforehand changes the depth of the experience entirely. Here is what we ask of clients in our New Haven, Connecticut practice in the days before a reading.
Refine three to six questions
The records respond best to open questions, not yes-no. Instead of "will I get the job," ask "what is this chapter asking me to learn." Instead of "is he the one," ask "what pattern is this relationship reflecting back to me." The shape of the question shapes what is offered.
We refine your questions together in a short call before the reading. Bring more questions than you need; we will narrow them.
Hydrate, eat lightly, sleep
Readings open a subtle channel. A rested, hydrated, lightly-fed body holds the experience better than a depleted one. Caffeine in moderation is fine; alcohol the night before is not.
Bring a journal
We provide a written transcript within 72 hours, but the felt experience moves fast. A journal beside you during the reading captures the in-the-moment knowings the transcript cannot.
Expect emotion
Most clients cry at some point. Some laugh. Some simply go quiet. There is no wrong response. The room is held; whatever surfaces is welcome.
Plan a soft landing
Do not schedule a meeting an hour after your reading. Build in time to walk, eat, integrate. Many clients in New Haven head to East Rock or the shoreline afterward; virtual clients often take the rest of the day off entirely. The reading is the work, but integration is where the change actually lands.
